Sauteed Asparagus

Sauteed Asparagus Recipe

If you’re looking for a new sauteed asparagus recipe to go with your meals then you’re in the right place. This sauteed asparagus side dish is quick and easy to make and tastes delicious.

Asparagus

asparagus

I prefer to use fresh asparagus for this sauteed asparagus recipe but you could use frozen if you prefer.

Seasonings

For the seasoning, I am using garlic powder, Italian herb seasoning, salt, and pepper. You can play around with adding or removing seasonings if you like but this is a simple seasoning mix that will give your sauteed asparagus a lot of flavors.

Butter

I am using butter with water to cook this asparagus. The butter just helps add some extra flavor while the asparagus cooks.

Parmesan

I am using shredded parmesan cheese to top off this sauteed asparagus. The parmesan gives it a nice flavor and adds more texture to your asparagus.

What You Will Need:

Directions:

Step 1

Trim asparagus and place in skillet.

Step 2

Add Water, butter, and seasonings. Turn the stove to medium-high heat and cover the skillet with a lid.

Step 3

Bring water to a simmer and reduce heat to low. Cover and cook asparagus for 5 to 8 minutes or until asparagus is cooked to your liking.

Step 4

Remove the lid and drain any excess water mixture. Sprinkle cheese over the top of the asparagus and return to heat for 2 minutes or until cheese is melted.

Step 5

Serve and Enjoy!

Notes:

  • The longer you cook your asparagus the softer it will get, so make sure to cook it to your preference.
  • Thicker asparagus spears will take longer to cook than thin asparagus.
  • Add some lemon flavor to your asparagus by putting some lemon juice in the water and topping it off with lemon zest and parmesan.

Do You Rinse Asparagus Before Cooking?

Yes, you want to wash your asparagus the same as you would with any produce before cooking it. You will want to rinse your asparagus with cold water before you begin preparing to cook it. Once you have rinsed it you can trim it and begin cooking.

What is the healthiest way to eat asparagus?

The easiest answer is raw or steamed with water. Asparagus will still remain a healthy option cooked or raw but don’t punish yourself by thinking that adding some seasoning will make the asparagus bad for you. Once you start using butter and oils you want to be careful and not overdue it.
