Do you love French toast but don’t have a lot of time in the morning to make it? This quick and easy French toast recipe is for you! It only takes a few minutes to prepare and cook, so you can have a delicious breakfast that will keep you satisfied all morning long.

What Is The Trick To Quick And Easy French Toast?

The key to making French toast is all in the egg and milk mixture, which most French toast recipes have different variations of. You want to whisk the eggs together until they are light and airy, then add in the milk and vanilla extract. This will give the French toast a rich flavor that is perfect for soaking up all of the delicious syrup. Once you have your mixture ready, it’s time to start cooking!

How Do You Make French Toast?

The first step is to preheat your griddle or skillet over medium heat. You want it to be hot enough that the bread cooks fairly quickly giving it a nice texture, but not so hot that it burns the bread. While the griddle is heating up, Get your bread ready and if possible keep the egg mixture and bread close to your cooking area. Once the griddle is hot, dip each piece of bread into the egg mixture, making sure to coat both sides. Then, place the bread on the griddle and cook for two to three minutes per side.

What Is The Best Type Of Bread For French Toast?

There are so many different types of bread that you can use for French toast. In this recipe, we are using plain old wheat bread but you can also use challah bread, brioche, raisin, cinnamon, French bread, Texas toast, or even sourdough bread. The important thing to note is the thickness and denseness of the bread you are dipping into the egg mixture. Thinner bread will benefit from a quick dunk and thicker bread might need a little longer of a dip in the mixture. Dipping your bread for too long will cause it to get soggy and fall apart.

What Is The Best Type Of Milk To Use For French Toast?

You can use any type of milk that you like for French toast, but I prefer to use cashew milk or almond milk. Coconut milk is also an excellent option for adding creaminess and some flavor. This is a lower-calorie option, but you can use higher fat milk such as whole milk or heavy cream, which will give you a creamier mixture.

Directions

  1. Preheat frying pan or griddle to medium, medium-high heat.
  2. Mix eggs, milk, salt, and vanilla in a bowl and whisk well until combined.
  3. Dip bread one slice at a time into the mix and cover well and place in a pan or griddle.
  4. Cook 2-3 minutes per side checking to see if done before flipping.
  5. Top it off with your favorite toppings and enjoy!

Notes:

  • Salt is excellent at bringing flavors forward and helping them shine. This is why we add just a pinch to the egg mixture.
  • Meal Prep is an excellent option here. You can create a large batch and freeze it or store it in the fridge and always have a quick meal ready.
  • Egg Whites are a great way to keep the base of French toast without adding extra calories from the egg yolks. You still end up with a delicious dish with a good amount of protein.

What Toppings Should I Put On My French Toast?

Quick and Easy French Toast

There are so many different toppings that you can put on French toast. Some of my favorites include bananas, berries, chocolate chips, cinnamon, whip cream, powdered sugar, peanut butter, and nuts. You can really put anything you like on your French toast, so get creative!

How Do You Store French Toast?

If you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to three days. When you are ready to eat them, simply pop them in a toaster until they are done. Another great idea is meal prepping and making French toast for the week. Storing them in a freezer bag so you can just toast them when you are ready to eat and don’t have to cook will save you time and is super convenient.
