Looking for an easy and delicious dinner idea? This creamy sausage pasta recipe is perfect for a weeknight meal! The sausage and cream sauce is so flavorful and satisfying. Plus, it’s really simple to make – just follow the steps below and you’ll have a delicious dinner on the table in no time.
The Sausage

I used a Johnsonville beef kielbasa for this recipe, but you could use any type of sausage that you like such as turkey, chicken, or vegetarian sausages. Just make sure to cook it until it’s nice, browned, and cooked all the way through before adding it to the pasta.
The Cream Sauce

I used a combination of heavy cream and beef broth to create a rich and flavorful sauce for the pasta. This is a great way to create a light sauce with flavor for any dish that you choose to make. If you want to thicken your sauce further you can use 1/2 teaspoon xanthan gum or 1 tablespoon flour. If you thicken it with flour I recommend taking a few tablespoons of the broth and mixing it with the flour and then returning it to the rest of the sauce to avoid small clumps of flour in your sauce.
The Pasta

I used spaghetti pasta for this recipe, but you could use any type of pasta that you like such as penne, rotini, or any of your other favorite pasta. Just make sure to cook it according to the package directions before adding it to the sausage and cream sauce.
Toppings

I topped my sausage pasta with some freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chives. This isn’t a must but adds more flavor and depth to the dish.

What Tools You Will Need:
Direction:
- Fill the pot with water and cook the noodles according to the package recommendations.
- Preheat your skillet to medium-high heat. Add Sausage and cook 4-5 minutes per side or until done.
- Remove Sausage from heat and put it aside while we make the sauce. If any drippings from the sausage are in the pan leave them for more flavor.
- Add shallot and mushrooms to the pan and cook for 3 minutes. Then add Garlic and cook for 30 more seconds while stirring.
- Pour your beef broth into the pan with the veggies and bring to a boil. Add the oregano and basil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 3 minutes allowing the broth to reduce.
- Add your heavy cream while stirring and bring to a simmer.
- Add Your cheese and stir until smooth. If the sauce is not thick enough for your liking this is where you will want to add the xanthan gum or flour to thicken.
- Season your sauce with salt and pepper to taste and add your noodles.
- Slice Sausage and add to the pasta. Mix well and let cook for 1-2 more minutes.
- Serve and Enjoy!
Notes:
- If you want a thicker sauce add 1/2 tsp of xanthan gum. stir, and let simmer for 1 to 2 minutes. You can also use flour. If you do this, start with 1 tablespoon flour, mix it with 1 tablespoon of the sauce, and then return that mixture to the sauce and stir. Adding flour directly into your sauce will cause lumps that won’t necessarily hurt the flavor but won’t be the best look for your dish.
- Use any sausage you like but make sure to cook it accordingly.
- If your noodles are done before your sauce is ready, spray some cold water over them. This will stop the noodles from cooking and keep them from drying out.
