Ground Beef

Ground Beef

I am using 90/10 lean ground beef for this recipe, which yields 8 cheeseburger sliders. This cheeseburger slider recipe calls for one pound of lean ground beef, so if you are making more sliders, just double the amount of ground beef and seasonings according to how many sliders you need. You don’t have to use 90/10 ground beef if you don’t want to, but it does make the sliders less greasy and lower in calories.

Buns

I am using some classic dinner rolls as my buns for this recipe but you can use any type of slider buns you like. Brioche buns or Hawaiian sweet rolls are also a nice choice if you want something more fancy and rich. I recommend that you toast whichever buns you choose to use because it will give a nice texture and help to prevent the bun from getting soggy from the onion and peppers.

Cheese

My preferred cheese for these sliders is mozzarella because it pairs well with the onions and peppers. You can customize this to your liking if you prefer a different variety of cheese such as cheddar, pepper jack, Colby jack, Monterey jack, or provolone.

Onions & Peppers

onions and peppers

For this cheeseburger slider recipe, I am using some sliced onions and bell peppers as my toppings. I am going for a sweet onion and peppers mix by cooking these down and adding a little bit of sugar to them. You can customize these toppings to your liking by adding mushrooms, jalapeños, or tomatoes.

Seasoning

Slider seasoning

Seasoning your sliders is necessary if you want them to be flavorful. In this recipe, I am using salt, pepper, minced garlic, and bbq sauce to season the ground beef. If you are trying to go for a more traditional style patty some popular seasons to use are garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. You can also add some salt and pepper if you would like.

What Tools You Will Need

Directions

Step 01

Slice the onion and bell pepper into thin slices and set to the side.

*If you are going to be toasting your buns preheat your oven to 350 degrees*

Step 02

Place the ground beef in a mixing bowl and add the garlic, bbq sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. Lay a sheet of parchment out on a prep surface. Divide the ground beef mixture into 8 equal portions and roll into balls. Place the ground beef balls on the parchment and cover with a second piece of parchment. Press out the patties as evenly as possible and remove the top layer of parchment. Set Aside

Step 03

Heat the frying pan on medium heat. Add a little olive oil, onion, and peppers to the pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften. Add the sugar and 2 tablespoons of water to the onions and peppers and mix well. Cook an additional 3-4 minutes stirring occasionally until the onions are tender and done to your liking. Remove from heat.

*If you want your onions to stay hot while you cook the patties place them on the back burner on low heat*

Step 04

Heat pan on medium-high heat. Add your slider patties and cook for 2 minutes on each side or until done. Break your sliced cheese into 4 pieces and place on the slider patty for about 30 seconds before pulling them off of the heat if you want melted cheese.
